Living in your own "now-ness"

by: Paul N. Dion

What is the “proper” way in which to live in the moment?
Is there a “right” way or a proper manner in which to live one’s life?

When we think of spirituality and life – what comes to mind?
Are we drawn into a culturally defined religious panacea wherein
we “reap what we sow” or have to earn our validity in some manner?

What about external approval? How important is that to our well-being and/or development?
Whose opinion has value in our lives and why?

When I think of these questions,
I can sort through the various phases I have gone through in my life and the ways in which
I may have answered these questions in the past.
I find the answers change as do the questions!
What may have worked in the past may no longer serve or be satisfying to me now.

Hmn, and what about the “now”?
There’s a concept that all exists at once and that there is no past, present, or future.
I can’t really explain it, and I am sure there’s a name for this idea, but I don’t know what the concept is called.

Anyway, according to this concept, we experience the “now” as past, present,
and future only because of some intrinsic collective psychological AND physiological construct in which the “now”
is somehow paused in our consciousness long enough to make it possible for us to actually experience it at all.
In other words, if the “now” didn’t pause, we would be unaware of it at all.
We’d experience everything all at once and most likely we’d either explode or realize that we were God.

Well, something like that…

I bring the concept up because it is part of my “now” experience and it’s possibly part of yours as well.
Did you ever think that everything that has ever happened to you was, in fact, guided, created, and realized by you and you alone?
I think maybe this is the way things work.

I have no proof, of course. And you may have a totally different idea to propose…but from my personal experience,
I find the self-directed “we create our reality” concept comfortable and a good working model for experiencing my “now.”

The events of my life line up neatly in a row when placed into the “self-realization” mode of existence.
In my life, even though I have not always been aware of the concept or its manifestations as they were presented,
I find I may very well be all I can know and all that I need to live and be the consciousness at rest within my experience.

I have come to realize dreams, hopes, and desires on the physical level and have developed and grown psychically,
mentally, emotionally and spiritually. And quite possibly in other ways I can’t even comprehend.

You may wonder what makes me believe that I have realized so many “dreams come true” or manifestations of my best interests.
To explain it fully is outside the scope of this article and certainly beyond my finger’s ability to type out the material!
Let me simply say that as I contemplate the events, sequence, and results of my experience…
I find I have pretty much realized every dream, notion, and desire/wish that I have ever had.

Yes, that’s a pretty lofty statement and you may not be inclined to think it’s possible to “have it all,”
but I think perhaps it IS possible and quite possibly inevitable. Am I different from the next person? I seriously doubt it!
Is there some magic or practice that is needed to obtain “my” results? Hmn, I don’t think so…

Although I do think it is possible effect the schedule and process
( see “active wishing” with the Taproot Bookstore Wishing Well – http://www.tickcentral.com/wishing.html ),
I also think everything unfolds exactly as we “plan it.”

Self-directed existence is powerful and satisfying.
It doesn’t fly in the face of collective energetic experiences or spirituality
(at least not for me)
but it does place responsibility for our lives squarely in the home court.

If you are not in the driver’s seat for your ride through this experience of the “now,” then who is?
